Our Story

Rooted in Tradition

Senatore Cappelli is a piece of living history — a heritage durum wheat selected in 1915 by agronomist Nazareno Strampelli and named for Marchese Raffaele Cappelli. Nearly lost to modern high-yield grains, it's prized today for its deep flavor and character. Rustichella d'Abruzzo grows it organically (certified CCPB, IT BIO 009), mills it into semolina, and shapes it with bronze dies — an heirloom grain treated with heirloom methods.

I used this pasta to make macaroni and cheese for the family on Christmas Day and it tasted great! I am gluten intolerant to American pasta but had absolutely no problems with this Italian pasta. This was a mom order for her daughter for her birthday. Yes! Pasta for a birthday present. It's that good! I love this product. The pasta is amazing and so is the flour and everything else I've tried. Even the brownie mix doesn't have that nasty box flavor. But here's the rest of the story for this order. I really did order a lot of pasta for my daughter's gift and Manny's Choice had some stock issues for one of the varieties. They emailed me and let me know I could wait or they would send a substitute. Since this was a present, I requested that a substitute be sent. Not only was the substitute sent but also a little personalized birthday note for my daughter. The customer service at Manny's Choice has always been awesome but the little extra note added to the shipment just made it special!!! Thank you so much!
